The technika rangefinder is a great and useful tool. 90mm lens cams are in my experience fairly interchangable on tech IVs because the 90mm lens has much better DOF tolerances at wide apertures than longer lenses. You are much more likely to have errors from an incorrect cam, particularly with longer lenses. (One more tip is after you think you have it right, push the top rail back a fraction on the bottom rail and then make sure that didn't make the image sharper.) With a bit of tinkering using a loupe on the ground glass and focussing back and forth you will get it right. It is not that difficult - just be sure to use a loupe.Ĭonsidering the fastest aperture you will shoot is probably f8 it won't show in the photos (even an aperture of 5.6 still allows DOF within a couple of mm of front standard movement). Keep adjusting the position of the front standard until the front rails until you don't need to focus anymore then move the stops to that point and rescrew. Just loosen the small screws on the infinity stops so they move in their tracks, then focus on something that is at infinity (really at infinity - horizon stuff).
